About EDo
Our Vision
We want to see the EDo / Huning Highlands neighborhood become more vibrant, classy & walkable.
We’re doing this by connecting EDo business leaders with the community, the city, and one another.
Our Story
The East Downtown (EDo) Neighborhood Association formed in 2001, as a distinct part of the Huning Highland Historic District in an effort to represent and support primarily the businesses in our area. We have always been committed to honoring the history of the area while working for the future.
In 2003, the neighborhood hosted a 5-day public charrette at the First Baptist Church. This charrette assembled a team of world-class architects, urbanists, engineers, transportation specialists, and retail consultants, along with the community to put together a Master Plan for EDo.
We believe that through continued collaborative work, East Downtown can be a great place for the widest variety of Albuquerque citizens to live, work, walk, shop, worship, learn, and play. We want to build upon this diversity to see EDo become the most walkable neighborhood in Albuquerque.

Values & Core Commitments
Celebrate the small wins.
Seeing a neighborhood flourish is a long game. Often times it can feel like one step forward, two steps back. We’re as committed to celebrating brand new buildings as we are to a changed lightbulb.
Honor the past, work for the future.
The EDo / Huning Highlands neighborhood has a rich history and architectural aesthetic. It is important to us to keep this alive for current and future generations to live in and enjoy.
Be a good neighbor.
Mixed-use urban environments include a diverse collection of people, projects, goals, and dreams. We do our best to keep our eye on how we can support both the resident and the entrepreneur, the shopper and the walker.
Establishing a strong EDo brand.
Whether it’s through an effective logo system and web presence, or events and placemaking, we think a vibrant brand can assist in building a vibrant community.
Recruiting and supporting entrepreneurs.
We want to see every retail space in East Downtown occupied by a thriving small business. As we are able, we want to connect with local entrepreneurs and support them to open new businesses in vacant spaces.
Building an active and engaged EDo Membership.
At the end of the day, EDo is its members. Our mission is to connect EDo business leaders to one another, the community, and the city. We’re working to create an EDo Membership that is mutually-beneficial. We are better together.
